About Open source:

The term open source was coined in 1998 after Netscape decided to publish the source code free for all for it's popular Navigator browser.

Linux was  the first operating system that could be considered open source.Any software  that bears the OSI certification seal can be considered open source because  it has the passed the Open Source Definition test.

How AMP works  with eachother:
Apache-It's a web server.As your web server,Apache's main job is to listen to any incoming requests from a browser  and return an appropriate response.Apache is powerful and can accomplish virtually any task that you as a webmaster require.

Mysql-It is the database construct the enables PHP and Apache to work together to access and display data in a readable format to a browser.
It's a Structured Query Language(SQL)server designed loads for heavy loads and processing of complex queries.

PHP-It's a sever-side scripting language.It works as it collect  and matches dynamic information to meet the request  for fresh web pages.

Website visitor requests a  perticular page or resources that request accept by Apache and then Apache it sends to the PHP and PHP getting that request and collect require information from the Mysql.
